Kwaya

Bible Translation is hard work!  (Click here to see more pictures)

So far, translators are working on: finishing Luke, and working on Acts

You can be praying that:

Population: About 115,000 people
The Kwaya villages are found on the edge of Lake Victoria.  Because of this, many men spend their days out on the lake fishing, while the women take care of the families and work on farm plots.

Here is a story about the Kwaya and Jita people and translation work.

Meet the TRANSLATORS!

This is David Murondoro. David is an evangelist with the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania.  He was recently engaged to be married!

This is George Kitende.  He serves as a secretary with the Free Pentacostal Church of Tanzania.  George and and his family (including four children of his own) have lived in the Musoma area for a LONG time!

Both David and George speak fondly of Kwaya villages. They claim that good fish is easier to get there.  They also like that they can just speak Kwaya and not have to bother with Swahili in the village. Though David and George are focused on translating the Bible, they are also excited about other materials in their own language that will come from their work.  They are looking forward to writing and reading books in their own language.  These will let people be proud of their culture and language, and will help people remember stories and sayings from the past.
