The Zinza have the book of GENESIS in their language already.  They just finished printing Luke and are working on translating Acts.

Pray for the work of Bible Translation to continue, and that the Zinza people would turn from their traditional religion to recognize Jesus as their savior.




Population: About 138,000 Zinza people

Religions: A few Christians, but mostly people who practice their traditional religion.  They are very secretive about their religion.  It is one of the strongest, most developed animistic religions in Africa. 

Most Zinza are farmers and fishermen. They mostly eat rice, fish, millet porridge, and bananas.  They also grow cassava, corn, sweet potatoes, and a variety of fruits.

The Zinza worry most about getting malaria, bilharzia, and dysentery.  They don't worry about other sicknesses because they assume that they will not live long enough to be affected by them.  Most people see health problems as spiritual problems.  After all, everyone gets bitten by mosquitoes, but only some people get sick!  They think that the gods decide who gets sick and who doesn't.

Meet the Translators!!!

The one Tanzanian translator for the Zinza language is Barthazari. 

The Zinza language project started as a single project with one family moving into the village to translate their language.  This family has now moved in to Musoma to join the other language projects being worked on there.  Here's a picture of the Gilmores :)

The Zinza had a dedication for the book of Genesis in 2010.  They were VERY excited to get God's Word in a language they understood!
