Nikki is yet another of the amazing missionary kids here in Musoma that I'm starting to teach. She recently went on a trip and wanted to share her experience with you! Check out what she's written :)

Me with my story! |
On November 28, 2012 I went on a trip to the village. I went because it was one of the
projects the SIL office was doing here in Musoma. Ronit, Kim, Tirzah, Magesa and me went. Magesa is a Tanzanian translator at the office who helped set up this school. The kids spoke the
Jita language and they greeted us in Jita all at the same time.

Getting ready to go! In order from Left to Right: Magesa, Kim, Ronit, ME, and Tirzah |
At first the kids were a little scared of us but after a while they got used to us.
There weren’t enough benches for all of the kids so they had to sit on the floor. There was no desk or chair for the teacher either.
When we brought all the stuff the ladies took it to give to the kids.
We brought
uniforms, shoes, and school supplies. They wore purple
uniforms.

I helped Kim bring in some of the supplies |

Ronit telling the class how much we appreciate their
hard work to read and write in their own language |

Posters and School Supplies, Yay! |

What'dya think? |
When Magesa was talking to the kids about the things we brought them, a
lizard fell from the roof! Ronit laughed like crazy and all the kids looked at her and thought she was crazy. Then the kids
threw rocks and shoes at the lizard.
|
I didn't get a picture, so I drew one instead.
This is me and Ronit watching the lizard fall from the ceiling. |
|
The Lizard |
They are the first class to learn and read and write in the Jita language, instead of Swahili.
|
Showing off their writing skills... |
|
...they were so proud and excited to show what they'd learned! |
It was a 2-hour drive home. On the way back we got tortillas and mandazi to eat. We passed by a
wedding, and later we passed by a cow with no head that was skinned and
gutted.
